Abstract

The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGoA) was signed into law by the then president of the united States (US), bill clinton, on 18 May 2000. Since then, it has undergone various amendments, the latest of which is the trade Preferences extension Act of 2015. AGoA is a unilateral, non-reciprocal trade preference programme that provides duty-free treatment for uS imports of certain goods from eligible sub- Saharan African countries (SSA).
