About the Journal

Focus and Scope

South Africa has a history of large parts of its past not having been recorded. "Oral History" as a discipline is new to the field of social sciences. The Focus of the journal is on the methods of oral history research as well as the results of oral history research done in and on Southern Africa expanding to the rest of Africa and eventually the rest of the world. Â The journal will create space for academics in collaboration with (other) oral history practitioners, archivists and librarians to publish scientific papers in the field of oral history, thereby supporting a new and expanding discipline.

Peer Review Process

Oral History uses a double blind peer review system to ensure the anonymity of both the author and the reviewer. Usually articles are sent to two reviewers, if there is a disagreement a third reviewer may be used. The final decision whether to publish any article remains with the Editor.
