About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Politeia is a double blind peer-reviewed journal accredited with the South African Department of Education and produced two times a year by the Departments of Political Science, and Public Administration and Management, University of South Africa (Unisa).

The mission of this interdepartmental publication is the promotion of the study of, and interest in, Political Science and Public Administration on the African continent and in the international community at large. Articles published in Politeia encompass a wide spectrum of views and issues relating to Public Administration and Management, Political Science/Studies, International Politics/Relations, Strategic Studies and African Politics.

Peer Review Process

Analytical contributions in the form of original articles, research letters, research papers and review articles, rejoinders to debates, book reviews and opinions/viewpoints are welcomed and will be considered for publication.

Not more than one article per author will be published in a single volume. This applies also to articles by joint authors of which one of the authors has already published in a particular volume.

Contributions will be submitted to local and international peer reviewers for double-blind evaluation before acceptance for publication.

The Editor reserves the right to edit contributions accepted for publication or to refer them back to authors for editing. 

Access

Subscription Access

Politeia is accessible via subscription access. Please see the "Subscribe" tab for subscription options and information on how to subscribe or follow the link provided. https://upjournals.co.za/index.php/Politeia/about/subscriptions

Individual articles may be purchased for ZAR50 per article. After receiving proof of payment the article will be emailed to you. All amounts include taxes. Please note that payments are managed via a manual process and that you will only have access to the article after your purchase has been processed.

Open Access

Politeia allows authors to opt for individual articles to be made open access by paying an Article Publication Charge (APC). Please enquire about this option from the editors only after the article has been through the peer review process and was accepted for publication. Article Publication Charges are R6 500 but discounts and special offers are sometimes available. Open access articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

  author cannot archive publisher's version/PDF

General Conditions:

  • On Institutional Repositories, social media repositories (Research Gate) and subject repositories 18 months embargo (from date of acceptance).
  • Must link to publisher version
  • Published source must be acknowledged with DOI
