Andries Walter Oliphant, University of South Africa

Andries Walter Oliphant is an Associate Professor in Afrikaans and Theory of Literature at the University of South Africa. He specialises in comparative literature, postcolonial theory, and cultural studies. He has published widely on South African literature, culture, and the visual arts. His most recent publications included Writing Life: Celebrating Nadine Gordimer (1998) andAttheRendezvous of Victory and Other Stories (1999). He is a recipient of, among others, the 1991 Thomas Pringle Award and the 1998 Book Journalist of the Year.
