“Kuns en Argief” in die Suid-Afrikaanse skrywers–outobiografie: Karel Schoeman en J.M.Coetzee

Authors

Abstract

There are parallels in the relationship between historiography and fiction in the oeuvres of Coetzee and Schoeman. A comparative study is undertaken of their auto-biographical texts within the framework of South African writers’ autobiographies, and on the
basis of related motives (problematic mother binding, the status of the subject as outsider, and alternative identities of the self) in Boyhood (Coetzee 1997), Youth (Coetzee 2002) and Die laaste Afrikaanse boek (Schoeman 2002).

Opsomming
