'Vakansiebrief - 'n dekonstruksie-/dekonstruktiewe lesing
Abstract
This is a demonstration of a possible deconstructive reading rather than a theoretical introduction to deconstruction. Following the reading of A. P. Grove (1965) further oppositions in D. J. Opperman's poem 'Vakansiebrief' ('Letter while on holiday') are analyzed, oppositions like birth/death, speech/writing. In the end a latent fear of silence, of not being able to write, is discovered in the poem.

Hierdie artikel is 'n demonstrasie van hoe 'n gedig moontlik gedekonstrueer kan word, en nie soseer 'n inleiding tot dekonstruksie nie. Die uitgangspunt is A. P. Grove (1965) se lesing van 'Vakansiebrief' deur D. J. Opperman. Daarna word daar op verdere opposisies in die gedig af gelees, bv. lewe/dood, spraak/skrif. Sodoende word uiteindelik 'n verborge 'vrees', nl. vir die stilte en die nie-kan-skryf-nie, in die gedig blootgele.
