Komas uit 'n bamboesstok: enkele Freudiaanse perspektiewe
Abstract
In this article, D.J. Opperman's last volume of poetry, Kamas uit 'n bambaesstak, is examined by using a Freudian reading strategy. Two texts in particular were examined, viz. "My Pappa vra lastige vrae" and "My vrou die koop 'n bobbejaan". These texts were chosen to illustrate the poetic expression of Freud's stages of infantile sexuality as experienced by the convalescing man in a state of regression and to illustrate the Freudian myth of penis envy, seen from 'n feminist viewpoint. The latter is undertaken with theoretical reference to Juliet Mitchell and Karen Horney.
Opsomming
