This book, Gu Mingyuan’s Educational Thought: Educational Philosophy Through China’s Reform and Opening Up, offers a comprehensive exploration of Gu Mingyuan’s educational philosophy, emphasizing its relevance to contemporary Chinese educational reform. Drawing on Gu’s Marxist-influenced approach, the book examines the essence, value, and purpose of education, highlighting the integration of individual development with national modernization, and the balance between traditional culture and globalization. It addresses key educational challenges such as equity, quality, and access, offering fresh theoretical perspectives on the social issues facing China’s education system. The book utilizes various research methods, including historical analysis, policy review, and field studies, and covers topics ranging from teacher professionalism to the evolution of higher education.
